How far can an obsession go? Why are there such extreme cases, where someone with some obsession commits an atrocity?

The King of Comedy is one of the films with the least recognition of Martin Scorsese's genius. A total injustice. Robert DeNiro's performance is on another level, I dare say it is one of the best of his career. A completely disturbed, obsessed character who hides behind a mask of kindness and good vibes, turning him into someone sinister but without giving clues to the limits to which he is capable of reaching.

This black comedy, which by the way was one of the inspirations for making the 2019 Joker movie, shows us the two sides of the coin of television and the media in general: on the one hand, consumers' idealization of his favorite star, and on the other, the price that famous people have to pay in exchange for money and fame.
