A recent paper by two economists talked about how Hawaii's future doesn't look to good unless we invest in human capital formation. I thought it was an interesting paper so I wanted to provide my thoughts on some of the things they stated and offer alternative solutions on how to address Hawaii's economy situation. While I'm not an economist, I do think we need to send our local kids away to gain some life experience and bring back what they learned, rather than, as suggested in the paper, rely on the University of Hawaii to educate them into innovators, thinkers, and entreprenuers. It's an interesting read and highly recommend it.
