Scroll Saw Bowl Making Techniques

Follow
Twin Oaks Treasures

In this video I make a bowl from the first pattern in Carole Rothman's book "Scroll Saw Wooden Bowls". She made hers from aspen but I used inexpensive pine construction material. I wanted this to be a practice or learning project and I did not have any 3/4 inch aspen. It came out better than I expected although I did drill the entry holes incorrectly and left a gouge in two of the rings on the outside. I did it again and drilled the holes with a drill press and did much better but did get one hole off and left a small groove on the inside of the bowl. But, that is why I call these practice bowls. I hope practice makes perfect. But I did follow here procedures and got the hang of the process. The angles lined up almost perfectly and made them easy to sand and finish.
