❤ Hello friends, as you know that I love to taste food from all corners of India and I try to find restaurants big or small to satisfy my craving. The Northeast India always makes me curious, specially their cuisine and culture. I visited Sikkim once and was surprised by the simplicity of their food and lifestyle. There are a few restaurants in Mumbai that serve authentic food from Northeast India and we discovered one of them in Andheri West. The Naga Belly, as the name suggests, this place serves authentic Naga Food from the state of Nagaland. This little gem serves great Naga Food In Mumbai.
The place is small but very tastefully done up.
There are some art effects from Nagaland on display that are very interesting.
Indian Food is truly an amalgamation of various flavours and Naga food is one such cuisine. They use very very less oil in their cooking and the spices are also minimal. There is a great use of bamboo shoots in their cooking and not to forget the red chilli. Friends as you all know one of the hottest chilli or Ghost Pepper or the Bhut Jolokia comes from this part of India, but they do not use that in their recipes because one has to have a real strong stomach to digest them.
All the herbs and spices used here are procured from Nagaland and so the food is really authentic and delicious. Contrary to the myth that people from the North East eat lot of non vegetarian food the people from this region consume a lot of vegetables. All their meals consists of lot of raw as well as cooked vegetables.
I loved the dal, the chicken, the chicken wings and the fish accompanied by purple rice which was a surprise.
So again I left Naga Belly feeling very satisfied and also very proud of my country that provides us with so many different flavours.
