How to Replace the End of a Garden Hose

Follow
Know How Now

Replacement of a garden hose end connector is an easy repair. The replacement ends are called male menders and female menders.

If you've replaced the washers on the end of a garden hose that connects to the faucet and the washer on the sprayer or attachment that connects to the male end of a garden hose, then the likely problem is the hose connector.

In the U.S. the threads are standard, but hose sizes vary. The most common size garden hose is 5/8 inch, some hoses are 3/4 inch. The hose size is the inner diameter of the hose.

The video shows how to replace a damaged or leaking garden hose end. The best hose male mender I have found so far is Ace Hardware's Male Mender Heavy Duty. The item number is 7303829. The item number for the Female Mender Heavy Duty 7303837.
