Brass end connectors are great but the plastic ones are not bad either. However, I know there are several manufacturers and some plastic ones are going to be cheaper than others but the ones I find in hardware stores are usually all the same. To make it easier to insert the fitting into the hose, heat the hose with a blowdryer or use some liquid dish soap. Good luck with your repair!
