Is it possible to lose your Social Security disability case within 5 minutes of meeting your judge?

Unfortunately, the judge assigned to your case is likely overworked, tired and frustrated. He or she is under pressure from regional and national judicial offers to only approve deserving cases.

So, when you testify, the last thing you want to do is ask the judge to believe something that is out of line with the patterns he sees.

For example, if you are alleging disability based on severe back pain, the judge will expect you to testify that you spend your days in a recliner with your legs extended, that you can't stand up long enough to cook a meal, and that you can only get by with the help of potent prescription painkillers that leave you sleepy and severely constipated.

If you testify that you self medicate with marijuana or that you borrow pain pills from your buddy or that you sometimes ride along with your son when he drives to work, the judge is not going to find your believable.

Judges spend a lot of time asking about your daily activities because what you do says a lot more about your capacity to function than what you say.
