The Concept2 BikeERG combines air resistance with a studio bikelike build for an innovative indoor cycling experience. The BikeERG’s 10level damper allows you to control the airflow to the fan, creating more or less drag on every rotation of the fan. Because it uses air resistance, the BikeERG is quite loud. The higher damper levels are even louder. Thus, it may not be the best option for apartment dwellers.

The BikeERG is built with a lightweight aluminum frame. It weighs only 68 lbs and is quite easy to move around. The BikeERG can support a maximum user weight of up to 300 lbs. It is very sturdy despite its low weight.

The handlebars are bullhornshaped with drop bars. The saddle is small, but not too firm. Each was comfortable for me while I trained, but you can replace them if you want something more suited to your needs. The pedals can also be replaced. The BikeERG comes with flat pedals, but you can swap them for SPD pedals or any other sort you like.

The PM5, the BikeERG’s console, is very reliable. It is the same device found on Concept2’s SkiERG and RowERG. It is easy to use and navigate. You can connect a heart rate monitor very easily. You can also connect to the ERGData app and other apps for more training options. ERGData is Concept2’s app, which has content for the BikeERG. It also allows you to participate in the Concept2 community in the realtime loop where other users are actively training.

The Concept2 BikeERG has unlimited air resistance, but it does not have moving handles like most air bikes do. It can be used similarly to a studio bike, but it is hard to adjust the damper while training. You have to adjust your cadence and force to vary the resistance on the fly.
