i've been a fan of AOT ever since one of the first trailers for S1. i remember seeing the animation and thinking that production quality was far higher than anything else at the time. looking at the director and studio for S1 i just knew it was going to be a megahit and boy did it exceed that expectation. the main motif of vogel im kafig is present in the series all the way from episode 1 of season 1 where it's played in the final scene of the episode. it honestly sets the tone for the entire show and i really think attack on titans popularity is no doubt due to such a strong starting episode where this piece no doubt plays a major role.

the composition of the original song is complex due to its orchestral nature i've trimmed out a few parts to arrange a piano solo of the main motifs.
