Hey Food Box HQ Family! Today we're checking out Tovala to give you our updated review of this beast of a smart oven.

We've used both the Tovala Generation 1 and Generation 2 for over 3 years at this point and we've been super impressed with how well it works.

A few things we love...
It's very simple to use. You can control it through the oven or app. But we usually just scan whatever we want to cook and press start.

Since it's a steam oven, it cooks food way better than a microwave but a lot quicker than a traditional oven. It's the best of both worlds.

It's taken the place of our microwave for 99% of the times we want to heat things up. It doesn't work well for soups!

A few things we don't love...
It's not huge so you can really only cook one meal at a time. This means it might not be a good option for big families.

It's a bit of an investment at over $100. However, it costs less than many other similar smart oven options out there.

It allows you to scan the barcode of a ton of frozen foods and will automatically preprogram the oven to the best settings. Occasionally it won't have the frozen items info when we go to scan it. Also, sometimes we'll need to throw the item back in the oven for a few more minutes. It's not the end of the world but just thought we should mention it!

At the end of the day, this little smart steam oven does an exceptional job at cooking food quickly and surprisingly well. We use it for everything from toast to chicken breasts and it has cooked it all perfectly.
