The goals of this session are to help you: 1. Understand the role of precipitating events in triggering the cardiac disturbances of Takotsubo Syndrome. 2. Learn about a patient’s journey from diagnosis to full resolution of her Takotsubo cardiac symptoms. 3. Understand that postmenopausal women are particularly vulnerable to Takotsubo Syndrome. 4. Understand how EMDR Therapy is an effective evidencebased trauma treatment that targets the autonomic dysregulation underlying Takotsubo symptoms. 5. Learn how treatment of the traumatic trigger to the Takotsubo event resolves the neural dysfunction that maintains the cardiac symptoms of Takotsubo (i.e., treatment of the emotional distress is essential to the resolution of the cardiac syndrome).
