Feenix the Funny Singing Dog

Starting Crate Training all over again . Feenix can’t stand his crate and his anxiety goes over the roof when we even mention the word . After talking to our breeder, she gave us some good advice and steps to take with positive reinforcement.
Arizona , our mini Bull Terrier , loves her crate . She sleeps there at night and goes there to rest on her own . It’s her little cave , her private area.

Feenix has been hating crate since his puppy age . This is why we are starting form the Beginning!

Things we were recommended to do first :
feed Feenix ONLY in his crate .
give SAFE bones and high value treats ONLY in his crate . Keep an eye on your dog!

Feenix used to never eat any kind of food in his crate . He would leave it alone and cry and dig . That’s the reason Feenix has 4 locks on his crate since he escaped from it multiple times in the past.

If your dog cries in the crate because he doesn’t like it and wants to escape you need to learn to avoid all the noise and digging . Dog , on the other hand , needs to learn that YOU are in control of when the dog is allowed to be out of the crate . Obviously, we are not talking about leaving your dog in the crate for hours and dog is crying in discomfort because it needs to go outside to the bathroom. That’s a different story .

We work from home so we hardly ever crate Feenix . And when we do it's for a short period of time and it’s for his own good . We tried leaving him home alone , crate free, but his anxiety is very strong and he can get hurt.

Crate training is very useful not only to crate your dog in the house . When you travel on the plane or in the car . Keeping your dog over night at the vet . When you board your dog at a kennel facility. When you bring your dog to the dog shows . Your dog needs to learn that crate is a safe and comfortable space to be in...

Today was Day 2 of our new training routine and we are so proud of our boy . This is only the beginning but I wanted to share our experience with you.

P.S. never mind my runny nose sounds. Allergies have arrived ...
