Carol Webb has been involved with the Basenji since 1962. Her love and devotion to the breed is unparalleled. She has seen the breed develop from a landrace to a pure breed dog. She has seen the early Basenji who were quite sharp and aloof change into a gregarious and loving companion.

The Basenji is a hunting dog. It was bred from stock that originated in central Africa. Most of the major kennel clubs in the Englishspeaking world place the breed in the sighthound type. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale places the breed in group five, spitz and primitive types, and the United Kennel Club (US) places the breed in the Sighthound & Pariah Group.
