Question of the Day: I got a text from a guy on Snapchat saying he apparently hacked me and took pics of me from my camera w/o me knowing and he said if I leave the chat he would send my nudes to my followers on Instagram and my address. Then he got my phone number and email (which are both public). Then he sent me a message that said he wanted to meet up for sex or else he would post my nudes. My dad wants to file a police report, but my sister said a lawyer told her the police can’t do anything until he actually posts or sends my photos. Can you help me?

Call the police. Merely threatening to share your nudes may be a violation of your state’s “revenge porn” law. This person’s behavior could violate other criminal laws where you live, such as blackmail and/or harassment. It’s worth it to get a professional opinion from your local law enforcement agency and/or a lawyer who is versed in these laws. This person should also be reported to Snapchat.
