Question of the Day: Generally speaking, when you are in public, it is legal to record someone, (video or audio), as long as they don't have a reasonable expectation of privacy?
For audio recordings, check the law of your state to see if you live in state where only party has to give consent to record a conversation or if you need consent from both parties.
For video recordings, it’s generally legal to film while you’re on public property if you’re filming things that are in plain view. Your state may have laws regarding the filming of children that are worth checking before you pull out your camera. You may need consent of who you’re filming if you plan to monetize the videos.
If legal questions were easy, we wouldn’t need lawyers.
