Question of the Day: My friend bought (got?) a video from a girl in a bikini "dirty dancing" there was no contract signing and she said it was his forever. What are the consequences for him if he shows it to others or posts it this online?
In general, if you have a photo or video, it’s legal to show your copy of it to others. It could be a copyright violation to make copies of it. Without a contract, there may not be a model release, so if you make money from showing it to others or posting it online, it could violate this person’s right of publicity.
It would be helpful to get permission from the person before sharing video with others, preferably in some type of writing.
This answer assumes this video is not child porn and would not qualify as “revenge porn” if you showed it to others.
If legal questions were easy, we wouldn’t need lawyers.
