Puffed Wheat Cannon. Who needs one of these?? ME !!! A grain puffing gun, popcorn cannon, whatever they might be called, I thought I would try making some instant puffed rice in my new "Puffed Wheat Cannon". It's amazing how it puffs in a split second after reaching pressure. Very cool device. I have a large version of this and have posted a few videos of learning how to use it years ago. This smaller one is fantastic, because I can use it indoors and practice with small batches to figure out how to best make puffed cereals. First was puffed brown rice. Since then I've made puffed white rice, wheat, popcorn, barley, peas, and quinoa (or however it's spelled).
Very satisfied with this "needed" purchase! I purchased this from Mr Popcorn who you can find on YouTube.
In a nutshell, how it works is the grain is heated, releasing some moisture which creates steam pressure that cannot escape. When the desired pressure is reached, it is opened causing the kernel with it's internal plasma like steam to expand in every direction.
