8. Danny Yamashiro
You know you're destined to survive if you went through what this man did, trust me.
In 1985, mountain climbers Danny Yamashiro and his girlfriend were climbing up a mountain in Honolulu, Hawaii when Danny's girlfriend lost her footing and suffered a 20 foot (6m) fall off the mountain. She was injured, and needed help. Naturally, Danny tried to scramble over to get her. But as he tried to climb over the treacherous rocks he fell off the mountain himself. But he fell much further, tumbling down over 300 feet (90m) head first, and landed on the ground hard.

7. Frane Selak
Avoiding death is a very lucky thing. But for this man, he managed to avoid it 7 times...and then won the lottery to boot! No, really, this genuinely happened. This is the unbelievable tale of Frane Selak.
Frane Selak was born in 1929 in Croatia, and thus over the many years of his wild life he's done a lot of incredible things and lived through some of the most important events in recent history, and he's survived all of it. Not that he didn't have a series of close calls over the years, as you can expect.

6. Johnnie Lowe
This next entry's name is rather apropos given that he had to experience one of the lowest points in his life that almost TOOK his life.
You see, this Michigan man was going down the road when a steel beam flew at his car and impaled his windshield...and missed him by mere inches. What happened was that there was a truck with steel beams right in front of him, and it suddenly jolted and shifted lanes without much warning. The act of sudden movement led to one steel beam itself getting loose and flying off the back of the truck, directly towards him.

5. The Boulder and the Farmhouse
The Indiana Jones movies have many iconic (and infamous) moments. Arguably the best one though is the scene of the protagonist, Indy, avoiding certain death by outrunning a giant boulder. You'd think that something like this would NEVER happen in real life, right? Except, it's happened before, and the people of this farm cheated death by not being in its path.

4. Kirk Douglas
Kirk Douglas was a legend in Hollywood and had many starring roles in major films over an exceptional life of over 100 years! But it almost didn’t happen that way. In fact, back in 1958, his life almost came to an abrupt end. He had planned to join film producer, Mike Todd, on a trip to New York in Todd’s private plane, but his wife objected and thus he stayed with her. Later on, he and his wife were in the car when the radio went off and noted that Todd's plane had crashed and no one on board survived the incident.

3. George “Papa Bear” Halas
If you live in Illinois, and especially if you live in Chicago, you probably know and revere the name of George “Papa Bear” Halas. Sports fans remember him as the man who created the Chicago Bears. It’s a sports franchise that brought him fame, fortune, and a legacy that still exists today!

2. Roy Sullivan
Seven is supposed to be a lucky number, but for Park Ranger Roy Sullivan, it was a reminder of how many times he's cheated death. No, really.
Because he was struck by lightning 7 times...and somehow survived every single time.
Just to be clear here, this wasn't all in a small period of time, and not all in the same place. Rather, it was during 19421977 that it all happened. That's 35 years of potential strikes by lightning, and yet, the odds of this happening to one guy in a lifetime is astronomical. And yet, it happened to him, and he's lived to tell the tale.

Finally, there is an incredible story of avoiding death without knowing it was right next to you the whole time. That’s right, one person might have panicked and fallen to his death, had he known how close he really was to mortal doom!
