After 10 years of keeping chickens, I think I finally have a solid handle on exactly what a coop needs to offer to let our chickens be chickens while still being productive, useful members of our farm. They do their best work when they are well protected from predators, when the coop is easy to clean and when the coop is mobile. Mobile coops mean better eggs, healthier birds, and healthier soil. We save a ton of money on chicken feed because the chickens are busy eating grass, bugs and weeds and turning them into super healthy, rich eggs. Their eggs (and meat, if you're into that sort of thing) are far more flavorful and nutritious, and the mobile coop alleviates "farm smells" and makes for one happy farmer. I set to work designing the coop to go with the trailer, and my business partner Josh, knowing my great affinity for miniature things, suggested I build a tiny scaled down version of our existing barn on the trailer, and this tiny barn mobile coop plan hatched from there. Too many chicken puns? Here's one more. The barn has a cupola, so I figured the chicken coop would need a tiny coopola for the top as well.

This a SELFCLEANING, mobile chicken coop, and a predatorproof mobile coop design. It's super efficient, it keeps my chickens safe, makes egg collection easy, and, bonus, it's a tiny version of my existing barn here on the farm! This chicken fortress keeps pests and predators away, is well ventilated, and, best of all, it can be pulled around the farm with my golf cart!
