Moon is a turd :') The reason you don't see me looking at Nikki as I walk in is because I'm having to watch Moon constantly. He's a notorious butt biter. But I still love the goofy boy very much.

Nikki is a mid content wolfdog, and Moon is a low (possibly no) content wolfdog. Moon is a very fearful animal who wasn't properly socialized. Consequently, his behavior often consists of trying to bite your butt to initiate play or barking/howling in your face. It's pretty obvious why he ended up in a sanctuary. Nikki, on the other hand, is a love. She's never met a person she didn't like and slobbers everyone with kisses. Unfortunately, she was bought by a family who had a young child in the house, and Nikki bit her. Without having been there, it's impossible to judge the circumstances surrounding the bite. However, wolfdogs are known to be mouthy animals (it's how wolves communicate and it's one of the traits that tend to carry over) so it's very possible that the bite was one of play rather than aggression. Unfortunately, any bite of a child is a very serious deal, and for that reason Nikki came to the sanctuary. It's a shame that she can't be with a loving family, but we did our very best to give her the closest approximation to a home setting as possible, with daily visits and lots of individualized attention. Nikki was far and away one of my favorite animals, and its easy to see why.
