Come along with me for my very first lap down "Cannonball Run"! This is a trail that the Yosemite Southgate Trail Cooperative (visit www.southgatetrails.org to join or donate) has been working on for a long time. I'm proud to say that I got in a couple of dig days myself on this one, so I was super pumped to finally get to ride it just a couple of weeks ago.

It should be noted that there is no way to ride this trail without doing some pretty serious climbing.

The completion of this trail is significant for a lot of reasons. It's really the first official opening of a new trail built by our club. It's a huge collaboration that would not be possible without the willingness and generosity of Southern California Edison. The number of volunteer hours put in on this is staggering. Finally, this is really the first mountain bike specific trail built in the Shaver Lake area, at least that I'm aware of. It's a huge accomplishment that took a ton of work from a bunch of people. As a member of that group, I rode this lap with a ton of pride. I'm so stoked for our club, our local riding community and anyone else who gets the opportunity to check this thing out. Best of all, it's just the beginning!
