Narcissism goes hand in hand with pathological lying, shift blaming and deception. Manipulators use lying as a form of manipulation to control you, and your reality. A narcissist who is a pathological liar will use shift blaming as a way to avoid responsibility for their actions.

A narcissist must lie. Lying soothes their amygdala. It acts as an anesthetic. While most people are nervous about lying, for a narcissist pathological lying is the way they stay calm. It helps them feel in control of their fantasy false self and what others believe. Covert narcissist lies to gain your sympathy, empathy and to gain control over you. Pathological lying is a sign you are in an abusive relationship. Those with npd who are pathological liars, use projection as well as blame shifting to avoid losing control in the abusive relationship.

Narcissists use deception as a way to remain in control of their inner demons. They use splitting an extreme form of black and white thinking to help them maintain control. They require a fantasy false self to help them get through life. The narcissist will lie to gain your trust and then keep you in a toxic relationship with them through gaslighting, projection, fear, and rage. They will use shift blaming to appeal to your empathy. They will also use crazymaking communication to keep you confused and unable to call them out on their narcissistic abuse.

A covert narcissist who relies on lying to control their narcissistic abuse victim can appear to have empathy. They will fake empathy to gain the trust of kind others and use their victims until the narcissistic abuse victim awakens or the narcissist discards their victim. A covert narcissist will use crazymaking communication, shift blaming and projection as well as lies to keep their victims under their spell. It is important to know that one of the number one traits of a narcissist is lying.

Healing from narcissistic abuse requires grieving the fantasy the narcissist created through their lies, deception, and shift blaming. Narcissist tell all sorts of lies. The kinds of lies narcissist tell depend on the moment. They will lie about where they have lived, what they do for a living, what they like to do and who they are. The narcissist will tell the types of lies they need to in order to control those around them.
