The happy life of Hilda and her widowed mother, Gloria, changed for the worse when Eddie and his family moved in as their tenants. In no time at all, Gloria had gotten married to Eddie and was providing for his entire family. To make things worse, Eddie's daughter, Amy, wanted Hilda's boyfriend, Christopher, for herself. As if those were not enough, Hilda killed Eddie's son, Michael, when he attempted to rape her. Pregnant with Christopher's child, she ended up in jail. But Gloria, now sick and reduced to poverty, could not do anything to help her. Still, she lived for the day when she would be able to reclaim what was rightfully hers.
