Introducing our Bambino cat surrender Oshun

It's Caturday! This is one of two of our newest cat surrenders. Introducing Oshun. She was a pet surrender along with an exotic short hair cat named Decatur (I'll introduce him later). Oshun is an 'experimental breed' called a Bambino. It's a Sphinx cat mixed with a munchkin cat.

Unfortunately, because of her mix, she has a lot of health issues.
• Skin conditions: With a lack of hair and overly oily skin, most hairless cat breeds have an increased chance of developing bacterial skin conditions or infections. This means she needs a bath frequently.

• Pectus excavatum: This is a malformation of the sternum that causes a ‘caved in’ appearance in the chest cavity.

• Lordosis: This condition causes the cat’s spine to be overly curved.
On top of her unfortunate (but yes adorable) mix. She is also Feline Luekimia positive. This could potentially shorten her life because she has a weaker immune system. She currently has a respiratory infection that she is on antibiotics for.
There is something special about this occurace. She and the cat she came with are our first indoor cat surrenders at SAF South. I didn't know she would be Feline Leukemia positive when I brought her to the vet. I was heartbroken. But because of her condition, this means we can specialize in only taking the feline leukemia positive cats at SAF South. Since this condition is highly contagious, she could not be with other health cats.

We won't be taking in any new cat intakes for a couple of months as we need to raise funds for our current residents.
Please consider making a donation to help Oshun and Decatur.
