Making Book Ends (with a stamp of approval):

Here’s a project you can make that will turn a conventional item into a nice, appealing, decorative and useful item for your books and bookcase. At the end of the video, I’ll use my branding iron to approve it (or not!).

You’re all probably familiar with the normal black metal book ends. They are stamped out of a piece of metal, formed and painted. They ’re very functional, but not very attractive. So my sweet partner, Sylvie decided she wanted something more attractive. “Can’t you just cover them with a nice wood on both sides?” I’ll show you her book case with all her favorite books. She had just rearranged it to remove the congestion and wanted a means to hold the books in place.

So, I made them and this video will show you how. I decided to make the two sides slightly larger (to accommodate gluing), and cut out a narrow space with my router. Then glue the two sides together and finish with wax.
