In this video I am showing total beginners how to knit with DPNs. A needle set of 5 is not that easy to handle and it takes some practice.
But, other than the 5 needles, you actually don't need to learn new techniques. All stitches are still performed the same way.

You start with a standard longtail cast on (here's how to do that https://nimbleneedles.com/stitches/h...) and then you distribute the stitches evenly on 4 needles.

For an invisible join, you slip the first stitch of the first needle on the last needle, bind off one stitch and slip the remaining stitch back tot he first needle and start knitting.

When knitting with doublepointed needles, make extra sure you keep a high tension on the first two stitches of every new needle to avoid laddering.

For beginners, I recommend bamboo needles, though I personally usually the Knitter's Pride Karbonz needles.
