An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is a software/platform that employers use to collect, scan, and sort resumes they receive for their open positions.

In this episode, I give an indepth explanation of how ATS systems work and dispel some myths common among career coaches and our clients.

One of these myths is that applicant tracking systems automatically mean that resumes are being parsed and scored.

Another common myth is that formatting is the reason your clients are getting kicked out of an application process.

What is important when it comes to formatting is drawing an eye to the content that matters.

Rather than focusing on ATSfriendly templates, we should focus more on the content, keywords, and demonstrating that our clients are qualified for the position.
