Ep. 83 THE DRAGONFLY MOSAIC and a look at two mosaics in downtown Roswell, GA.

This week was I focused on ONE project The Dragonfly Mosaic I am making to give my sisterinlaw! I show examples of Opus Vermiculatum using the keystoning technique. Then I spend plenty of time using Opus Palladium to fill in the background of the mosaic. I did take a break to visit two mosaics close to home; Jennifer Freeman's Heart of Roswell mosaic bench and the RosWall. Then back to my studio for more of the crazy paving background with an easy tip for blending colors to create a beautiful mosaic gradation.

I am making the dragonfly mosaic in memory of my nephew that passed away. It is for my sisterinlaw and I am using materials that are suitable for exterior placement so she can hang it where ever she wants. The base is GoBoard, prepped with hanging hardware and edges wrapped with alkali resistant fiberglass tape and coated with thinset. The adhesive is GE Silicone II for exterior.
