New best practice based on reports from thousands of people around the word since 2018 when the original video was done: all chest freezers will benefit from having a liner of some kind. Bare metal chest freezers are most susceptible to damage, but white metal interiors can show rust corrosion within weeks.

The bigger problem is when damage is not immediately obvious. What can happen is that water can slowly seep behind the walls, damage the interior, and cause the chest freezer to suddenly die within 12 24 months.
