The CurlyCoated Retriever is a loyal, confident, mischievous, energetic dog but is known to be eager to please dog, this breed usually gets on well with dogs and other household animals such as cats. They are known to be relatively patient with children; however, they may accidentally knock over small children when they become excited or boisterous.

Large, deepchested dogs should be fed carefully to avoid bloat. Two meals per day is safer than one large meal. The curly coat of the CurlyCoated Retriever is easy to care for. They should be washed regularly, but be mindful when brushing them as this will make their coat frizzy, it is recommended to wet their coat after brushing as this will resume their curls.

Curlycoated retrievers are eventempered, affectionate dogs that get along well with children and prefer to be with their human family rather than left on their own outside. They are highly energetic dogs, however, and may be too rambunctious for very small children.

Generally, curlycoated retrievers are considered intelligent and easy to train. However, it is said that some individuals in the breed can be stubborn and that Curlies are slow to mature, so it may take a bit longer to train them compared with other retrievers.
