Cooking Up Love

Cornflake Wreaths recipe are such easy Christmas cookie and there's no baking required. Cornflake wreaths are a tradition in our family, and Grandma Alicia makes them every year. They're like rice krispies treats but use Kellogg's cornflake cereal, with melted buttery marshmallow dyed green, shaped into a wreath and topped with red berries so they look like a festive little holly wreaths!

Cornflake Wreaths Ingredients
4 tablespoons salted butter
10 oz bag marshmallows
green food coloring
4 5 cups Kellogg's cornflakes cereal, or Special K
red and white sprinkles
red hots or red mini M&Ms

Cornflake Wreaths Directions
Begin by melting 4 tablespoons of salted butter in a large heavy bottomed pot over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, pour in one 10 oz package of marshmallows and stir continuously until they’re completely melted.

Next, add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and stir. Then add enough green food coloring to make the mixture a nice green color. For me, it was quite a few squeezes. You could also use one of the Wilton gels for a deep green color. Remove the pan from heat.

And measure out 4 5 cups of cornflakes. You could also use Special K corn flakes, which have a smaller flake size. Stir the mixture. You want to add enough cornflakes so the marshmallow thoroughly coats all of them well, without extra marshmallow sauce pooling on the bottom. Stir the mixture well.

Next, wet your hands with water or spray them with nonstick spray, and scoop a handful of the cornflake mixture onto a parchment lined baking sheet, and shape them into a wreath shape. You could also shape this into one big wreath and cut it into pieces to serve.

Decorate with red candies, I’m using cinnamon candies, you could also use red mini m&ms, and sprinkling with some white sprinkles for snow. Work quickly to add the decorations while the marshmallow is still sticky.

Let these set up in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or at room temperature for about 2 hours. You can store Cornflake wreaths in an airtight container for about a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
