Classic TV Theme: Eight Is Enough (two versions)

David Gideon

This family dramedy was based on a book by Tom Braden (a respected journalist who spent years arguing across a table with Pat Buchanan on CNN's Crossfire) about his own life. The show ran a very respectable five years and only changed its theme once. An instrumental was used for the first two years, then the last episode of season two included a scene with Grand Goodeve singing a new 'Eight Is Enough' song. Audiences must have liked it because from season three onward it became the new theme for the show, sung by Goodeve of course. The first theme was by Fred Werner; the song had music by Lee Holdridge and lyrics by MollyAnn Leikin. Enjoy remembering 'Eight Is Enough'.
