Some people are born to be parents. Kim Ceurstemont was one of those people. So when she found herself in her mid30s, single, just having moved back to Toronto after a rough breakup, she began to explore the idea of single parenthood. She didn’t want a coparent but hoped for a donor who believed in her future child, and in her as a mother. Then she met Guilherme Figueiredo (Gui for short), a gay, Brazilian college student studying hospitality in Toronto. Gui was inspired by the idea of a nontraditional family and wanted to help Kim become a mother.
