The CGCA test goes by a couple of names. It is sometimes called CGC Advanced and is sometimes called CGC Community Canine.

In this video we are going to show you everything you need to know to pass the CGC Advanced test.

Like all of the CGC tests, if your dog is well trained these tests are very easy to pass. This test has 10 individual steps, some of which are very similar to the original CGC test. The first test item is pertaining to your dog's obedience and their ability to perform commands around distractions. They are allowed to make mistakes but overall you should hold your dog to a high standard. Obedience comes into play a little bit later in the test as well. Overall you just want to make sure your dog has the core basic obedience commands down and make sure they are proficient around distractions.

The next three test items involve your dog’s ability to walk well on leash. These include turns around distractions and meeting other people. Overall, it is to make sure your dog will not pull you, jump on people or cause a scene in public.

The sit stay in a small group is just to make sure your dog can be calm and obedient around distractions. This is meant to test your dog’s overall impulse control.

Greeting someone with a bag is to make sure that your dog is ok with meeting people when they have something potentially scary in their hands.

The final two test items are just to make sure your dog behaves in public. This includes leaving items alone on the floor and making sure they are not bolting through doorways.

As we mentioned a few times in the video, the test is pretty easy if you have a good training plan. However, the majority of the dogs that we meet before training would not pass this test. Luckily, all of our training services can help you easily achieve this goal with your dog!
