Celebrating The Female Body Through Art

Womenkind Collective

We are very excited to be joined today by the wonderful Dr Charlotte Patton who is a Women’s Health GP who has a special interest in contraception, sexual health and menopause care. She first started training in obstetrics and gynaecology before carrying out training as a GP. Along the way, she gained qualifications in sexual health, coil and implant fitting and has a British Menopause Society certificate in management of menopause. Charlotte has also worked in a sexual health clinic and currently shares her time between an NHS GP practice and a private practice and Derriford Hospital Plymouth, as well as being involved with teaching at both Peninsula Medical school and the University of Exeter. This year, Charlotte has started teaching a ‘Student Selected Unit’ in medical humanities at the University of Exeter to fourth year medical students. It is entitled ‘Celebrating the female body through art’ and it came about after providing a similar oneoff session to University of Exeter nursing students last year. Charlotte has always been passionate about women and women’s health, but this has sparked a real passion for this specific subject and for the significant implications it could have in helping to reduce stigma and break down barriers in the context of the female body.
