If you prefer to watch without commentary then go here! • Building A Shaker Dresser Part 1
In this video I'm building a shaker inspired dresser. The design was actually inspired by a piece in Lonn Taylor's book, "Texas Cabinet Makers". It features four drawers with hand cut dovetails. The drawer boxes were built from quartersawn white oak and for the interior components of the dresser I used hard maple and poplar. The main wood species is escarpment cherry, which is a specie of American Black Cherry. Escarpment cherry grows exclusively in the Texas Hillcountry and has a very unique grain color.
