I was down in Kings Square Shopping Centre, at Cherryvalley today and noticed that the popular Ulster Bank on the corner, had been closed for a month. The nearest working bank is at Connswater. How long it will last there, is anyone's guess. I reckon that 90 % of our bank branches across the province have closed in the last 5 years. Is this progress? No Is this what the general public want to happen? No! The banks claim to have consulted the public on closures. I have never managed to come across anyone who agrees with all these closures.

Banks have closed or are due to close all over the country. Media, politicians and government who claim to have our interests at heart, do and say nothing to stop it. The banks claim these closures are due to falling footfall. This is nonsense! They claim they are concerned about customer service. This is simply more lies!
We are supposed to get by, using post offices and mobile phones to deal with minor to major transactions. Post offices do not have trained staff to deal with our serious money transactions. A huge percentage of our older population either don't have a mobile phone, or don't have the knowledge of how to use one, for online banking. Do the banks care about these customers that they are now abandoning? No!
