Devil Level: a vintage alternative to the traditional spirit/bubble level, the indicator pointer is weighted at the bottom pivot and the top is filled with air. Archimedes principle describes the buoyant force which keeps the indicator pointing straight up kind of like an inverse plumb bob. An interesting design that allows a reading of inclination and I wonder why it did not catch on as this item is about 60 years old.

Double Pendulum with Long Exposure: the motion of mathematical chaos from a simple assembly of two physical pendulums (one attached to the end of the other).
