About Cat Adoption Trials:
Before adopting a cat in Japan, it’s common for there to be a trial period to see if the cat and owner are matching. The cat will live at the potential new owners house for about 1 month. At the end of the trial it will be decided whether or not the cat can be adopted permanently. In my case the staff from the Cat Cafe will decide.

I got divorced in October of 2019. I was so lonely so I adopted a 1 year old white cat from a foster family.

Of course I wanted to look after her forever but I wasn't good enough.
I bought lots of Cat goods before I adopted, but the Cat rampaged, peed on the bed, cried all night and I couldn't sleep.

On the 4th day when I was tired and unalert, the cat ran away. I couldn't find her so I talked to the foster family. The foster family was able to find her. They appeared concerned and took the cat back. I didn't say anything to them.

After a few months I still wanted a cat if possible. So I went to a Cat Cafe where most of the cats were rescued from the street and up for adoption.
The Cafe staff asked me many questions such as "Are you married?", "Are you living by yourself?", "Do you have a girlfriend?".
I answered all the questions honestly.

They said they don't allow single men to adopt.
Because looking after cat isn't easy.
You can't go out drinking a lot.
You have to prioritise that cats life over your own.
At first everyone is lonely, so they look after the cat well. But soon after a lot of people release the cat.

I understood.

I still wanted to adopt a cat. I explained to them about my occupation, my working hours and how long I stay at home. I'm still worried but are there any cats that I can adopt? After that a big, brown cat slowly crawled towards me from the back of the room.

The previous own brought her to this cafe as she couldn't afford to look after her anymore. She is 6 years old, 40 in human years. She's friendly as she was a domestic cat.

If I can, I want to adopt this cat. (It's very hard to find an owner for older cats)

At first there's a trial. They said they will judge whether I can adopt her or not after the trial. They said I have to buy lots of cat goods and if possible a cat tower. Nowadays it's easy to do DIY.

I made it right away.

I announced to my subscribers that I would adopt a cat but they also warned me that It isn't easy. I really appreciate the advice that I received. I will make sure the cat will be happy. If you have any advice I would like to hear it.
