1. Personal Territory

As cats are territorial animals,
they have a need to exclusively dominate their personal space.

In the case of wild cats, it is in their natural instinct
to hunt and live within their territory.

For domestic cats,
because they believe that the inside of the house is their territory,
they tend to be afraid of strange people or animals
and will be on guard.


2. Toys

Cats are sometimes highly attached to blankets or plush toys.

This means that they have a great need
to exclusively possess their favorite items.

Therefore, sensitive cats may even feel depressed
if their favorite item is suddenly thrown out
or is being washed in the laundry.

If you must change your cats’ possession,
you should give him/her enough time
to get used to the new item before making the change.


3. Owner

Cats tend to consider their owner
as part of their territory.

Especially for male cats, who are particularly territorial,
the need to exclusively dominate their owner is very high.

They may rub their own scent on the owner’s body
after he/she returns home.

Cats sometimes fight with one another
to take over the owner’s knees.

It may seem adorable that your cat gets jealous
out of the desire to exclusively dominate you.

However, you should keep a reasonable distance between yourself and your cat
because such behavior, if severe, can create separation anxiety.


4. Food

When there is something yummy,
cats may want to exclusively take over the food
and show greediness.

Thus, at times, cats will hide their favorite snack
in their personal corner or around the house.


5. Sleeping Area

Because cats spend most of the time
during the day sleeping,
comfortable space is very important for cats.

When cats find a spot they can comfortably rest in,
they may show a desire to exclusively dominate the place.

Sometimes cats will insist on sleeping in their usual spot,
while some other times, cats may argue with one another
to take over the comfortable space.
