1. Ignore the Owner

As cats live independently in the wild,
they do not know the concept of obedience.

Due to such instinct,
cats tend to consider their owner
as their mother or friend.

Cats who look down on their owner
may ignore their owner when being called on
or hide from him/her.

However, cats are fickle
so even if they don’t look down on their owner,
they may sometimes ignore him/her depending on their mood.

2. Bite the Owner

Cats often express their affection by gently biting on their owner
and playing around with him/her.

However, when cats look down on their owner,
they will try to attack the owner by biting hard.

For instance, if cats bite or rebel against the owner
when being scolded,
it is highly likely that they think that they are higher in hierarchy than their owner.

3. Attack the Owner with Their Claws

If cats do not trust their owner
or look down on him/her,
they will show aggression by hissing or raising their fur
and reveal their claws.

However, it doesn’t mean that
all cats who show their claws look down on their owner.

Cats who became solo at an early age
may not have learned to hide their claws
during the socialization phase.

Behaviors That Could Be Misunderstood As Being Disrespectful
Place Their Butt In Owner’s Face
When cats shove their butt in the owner’s face,
one may think that they are being disrespectful.

However, when cats put their butt in the owner’s face,
it means that they trust the owner.

It is a way of allowing the owner to smell them
and of greeting the owner.

Also, showing their back in the wild
is equivalent to revealing their weakness.

Shoving their butt in the face of a trustworthy owner
could mean that they are asking him/her to protect them.
