12 Ways to Tell Your Cat You Love Them in a Language They Understand

Cat Lovers

Having a cat is awesome, and sometimes you just want them to know how much you love them. Luckily, there are tons of ways you can express your affection in their language. For example, you can blink slowly. I know it may seem strange but that's what cats do when they feel relaxed and at peace.
Maybe it’s the way your cat just always happens to find her way into the room that you’re in or the way that she insists upon always sleeping on your head at night. (No one said cats’ ways of showing affection are the most convenient or comfortable for their parents!) When you notice and appreciate her subtle signs of love, you’ll be able to build a strong sense of confidence in your bond.

How can you return her displays of affection so that she understands what you are trying to tell her? Here are a few purrfect ways to tell your cat how much you love her.

#1) Blink Slowly and Gaze Lovingly Into Her Eyes
Your cat might not appreciate being showered with kisses (and she may think you’re a little crazy if you try), but you can “kiss” her kitty style by meeting her loving gaze. One way that cats show affection is by looking at someone they trust and slowly closing their eyes. You can return this display by getting on her level, meeting her gaze, and slowly blinking back at her. Kitty will know exactly what you are trying to say.

#2) Groom Her
Grooming is another way cats spread their scent to create a sense of family and belonging. While imitating her actions exactly wouldn’t be a good idea (unless you want to wind up with a mouth full of fur) you can still show your love by “grooming” her, human style. Try brushing her gently, using a deshedding tool like this one. Or, you can pet her with a pair of grooming gloves like grooming your cat with HandsOn Gloves is a great way to say I love you to your cat. these from BISSELL®, if she seems to prefer that. Some cats even enjoy having a warm, damp cloth rubbed along their heads and backs since it takes them back to the tongue baths their moms gave them when they were kittens.

SUMMARY:
Pick something that your kitty can’t get enough of, whether it’s a laser pointer they can chase or a toy with a special smell.
If your cat always curls up next to you, this means that it sees you as a protector and someone it can trust its life with.
Learning tricks isn’t just for the dogs! Cats are exceptionally trainable too, and training your cat is a great way to show affection as well as strengthen your bond together.
Turning on the faucet and letting your cat drink from it shows that you understand and respect your kitty’s innate needs and wishes.
Cats release special pheromones from glands in their cheeks and rub this scent on you to mark you. So, giving your cat a couple of nosetotail rubs sends the same message, that you see them as all yours too!
Next time your cat presses against you as you're watching TV or something, press a tiny bit of your weight back into them.
You know how psychologists say that we trust people who say our name more? Well, the same goes for cats too!
The earlier you understand how your cat expresses its emotions through body language and meows, the stronger your connection will be.
Cats really value their independence and often need to spend some time alone. So if your cat isn't that playful and rarely comes to you for cuddles and kisses, don't try to force it.
