These four chords, the 1 5 6 4 progression (In this video in the key of C Major) has been used for for countless popular songs. Not always the whole song but at least making up part of a section. Of course these are the basic way of playing them and most songs have something unique thing they'll do with the chords. It's really valuable to learn and get real world examples and see (and hear) and compare how songs are put together.
