Workshop 001 Door Destruction

Step one in the construction of my new shop was to get to a point that I can secure the inside from weather and theft. No space is worth a darn if the stuff you put inside it gets wet or walks away. So, the doors were a priority. I looked up materials like metal and plywood and the costs were outrageous! Designing something from junk I had laying around crossed my mind, but at some point, this trailer might find itself rolling down the public roads and I did not want it to appear like it was a pile of trash, slapped together. Nor did I want to compromise the safety of others that could be hurt if something were to give way and fall into traffic. Thus, the doors were going to be built in such a manner as to appear, and operate as if they were a stock part of the trailer. That meant building from new, strong materials. The cement board was heavy but cheaper then wood. And the nearby lumber yard I went to did not carry plywood. So, rather then drive to another location, I let fate determine the material for me. The weight of the doors did not concern me anyway, because the rollup door was Heavy! And with it's removal, including all the the metal that made it work, the difference the new doors would make would be negligible.
