During normal catapult operations, the catapult is operated from inside the ICCS by the Shooter (on the right) with coordination from the ICCS Operator (on the left).

The Shooter will set the rate at which the catapult steam launch valves open and will receive confirmation from the ICCS Operator as to a confirmation from belowdecks personnel. Monitoring Top Side personnel, the Shooter will ensure a safe launching environment before hitting "Fire" and launching the aircraft.
