Woodenshoe and Dark Canyon: Solo Hike from Bryce to Bears Ears ep9 | Across Utah 4K

Jamal Green

My Bryce to Bears Ears Hike continues PAST the Bears Ears in Part Nine of my solo backpacking adventure series. This doublelength episode features trekking down Woodenshoe Canyon and then through Dark Canyon. Along the way I visit an archaeological site, check out some cool geology, and enjoy swimming in several of the fantastic pools in the lower canyon. I continue my journey up the Sundance Trail and then fight the spring weather as I make my way to the small town of Hite.

** NOTE ON THE TERM "RUINS"

Occasionally in this series I use the term "ruin" to refer to the various archaeological sites throughout the canyons of the southern Utah. It's been brought to my attention that many indigenous people prefer the term "ancient structures" or "ancestral sites." Though still not reflected in official BLM Material, the Bears Ears Visitation Materials does suggest this updated verbiage. It will be a hard habit to break, but I hope to update my usage in future videos. Thx!
