WHY CHECK MIRROR BEFORE ANY CHANGE OF SPEED?

Follow
Driving TV

Many drivers don't fully understand why check mirror before any change of speed? To be safe on the road we must check mirror, specially the rear view mirror, before any change of speed so we know what is happening behind us.

Before we brake we check the rear view mirror so we know who's behind, and if there is a vehicle behind close to us we can just touch the brake to give a signal to them. So then they can brake and don't hit us at the back. If they are close to us and we don't check the mirror and we brake hard the danger is they can go back of us.

Before we increase our speed by accelerating we check the rear view mirror so we know if there is a vehicle overtaking us. If there is we can wait until they overtake easily and then we can accelerate. If we don't check mirror and we accelerate and there is a vehicle overtaking us, imagine what can happen?
