Meet Julian Thomas. He's a 30yearold living in a 1bedroom loft apartment in Brooklyn, New York. Julian is a freelance publicist and content creator. He pays $2,155 per month in rent and for the layout and location, especially in New York City, he says it's a "great deal."

Nancy Olaoye is 31 and lives with her husband, Kunle, in a twobedroom with study apartment in London, UK. Together they pay $2,140 a month in rent. Nancy works as a global head of marketing and events at a tech company and Kunle is a strategic consultant.

Ben Boxer is 21 and lives with two roommates in a 2bedroom apartment in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Together they pay $2,000 a month in rent. Ben is a student at Carnegie Mellon University and a former intern at CNBC Make It. He pays $800 for his room.
