This is what our Christmas looked like. The day started normal, the ferrets opened some of their gifts and then we took a break. Later in the evening, I let them out of their room to open the rest of their gifts and quickly realized something was very wrong with Weasel, my oldest and first ferret.

Weasel suddenly became very lethargic. He couldn’t stand well, he was shaking and he appeared pretty out of it. I was able to stabilize him by putting honey on his gums and spoon feeding him Critical Care by Oxbow. His symptoms were consistent with low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and I didn’t have Kiro syrup on hand, but honey works too. A little later I gave him Poopin Pumpkin from the Pickled Ferret Parlor which helps with gastric issues and digestive health just in case it was stomach related, but it’s not a food and its made for specific emergency situations. I took him to the vet the next day. We did blood work. Xrays and a complete physical. All the results came back normal, but my instincts tell me we’re missing something. I truly feel like he has Insulinoma or at least the on the onset of it. I am keeping a close eye on him and will be taking him back to the vet for a routine check up. I am also going go to monitor his blood sugar at home using the AlphaTRAK 3 Piece Pet Blood Glucose Monitoring Kit for Diabetic Cats; Dogs.
