First off, I'm sorry, and I'm here to help you since this is such a common appointment I have with my clients and their old dog's every week.

KEY FEATURES OF CANINE COGNITIVE DYSFUNCTION:
Progressive confusion
Reversal of day night wake sleep patterns (sundowners syndrome)
And poor adaptability to new situations or change in routine (such as moving furniture around or moving to a new house)

Another thing in older dog's that keeps them up at night is pain.

YOU NEED SLEEP, HOW ARE WE GOING TO FIX YOUR DOG?
You can first try nondrug options such as getting them a more comfortable orthopedic bed, or playing soothing sounds in the house, or plugin in a night lite that can help older dog's who cant see well sleep at night.

If this doesn’t work you can then try some calming supplements such as CBD oils which a lot of pet owners have success with. LOOK FOR INGREDIENTS LIKE Melatonin, Ltheonine and tryptophan calming supplements sold online for pets and see if this makes them tired!!! And Fish oils, turmeric and joint supplements to help with arthritis pain.

NSAIDS, GABAPENTIN, VALIUM, ACEPROMAZINE ECT.

Lastly, if your dog has severe doggie demention from age, is also blind and has trouble walking even and is uncomfortable nightly, know that you do have the option of putting your sweet pup to sleep and that this is ok. :(

I have gone through this so much with pet owners that I needed to make this video to let you know that it is not wrong to put a dog to sleep if they are bumping into walls at night and even during the day and they do not have a good quality of life.
